I notice I’m drawn to circles and lines. If I paint them on tissue paper there is some transparency showing what’s underneath. I can always make collage fodder in the down times when life is challenging and creating is tough to push through. The repetitive mark making is soothing and still feels productive. The colour pallet you’ve chosen is gorgeous, Meg. Looking forward to playing with it. 🌸
I notice I have curated my own style and sometimes what I don’t care for when it’s done I like later. I have had peonies and now coreopsis so my color palette is pinks and yellows with some burnt sienna.
Hey Meg, are you familiar with Lorene Fortner here in the U.S. Pacific Northwest? She's a terrific gardener and artist, and during Covid she began a daily practice of selecting a flower or other natural object and creating a small (approx 4"x4") watercolor palette that she posted to Insta @seeing_color_in_the_garden. She's also on Substack and has a book "Color In And Out of The Garden"
Thank you so much for these thoughtful posts, beautiful color combinations, and creative ideas. I've yet to start my little journal I'd like to use, but got some prints last week that will help get me started. I, as well, want to start this project in a smaller journal. Thank you for all your doing.
